Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Self Storage Maida Vale in respect of our financial year. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our operations and our supply chains.
Self Storage Maida Vale provides storage solutions to individuals and businesses and recognises that modern slavery is a global issue that can affect any industry. We are committed to operating ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Self Storage Maida Vale has a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept any form of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour, or exploitation of vulnerable people, within our own operations or within the operations of those with whom we work.
We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, contractors, and business partners. Any indication that a supplier or partner may be involved in, or complicit with, modern slavery will be treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in the termination of the relationship.
Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated internally to team members and externally to our suppliers so that everyone understands the behaviours and practices that are unacceptable.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of goods and services such as building maintenance, security, cleaning, equipment, and professional services. While our business model is relatively low risk compared with some sectors, we recognise that risks can exist at any level of the supply chain.
Self Storage Maida Vale is enhancing its due diligence processes to reduce the risk of modern slavery. We are working towards incorporating modern slavery criteria into our supplier onboarding checks, including an assessment of the supplier’s own policies, statements, and workforce practices wherever possible.
We aim to conduct proportionate supplier reviews and audits, focusing on areas where the risk is considered higher due to sector, geography, or type of service. These reviews may include requesting information, conducting questionnaires, or holding discussions with key suppliers about their employment and sourcing practices.
Where concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to improve standards. If adequate improvements are not made within a reasonable timeframe, we may review the commercial relationship and take appropriate action.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Self Storage Maida Vale encourages anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business to raise them without fear of retaliation. Concerns may relate to our own operations, our suppliers, or any other business partner.
Team members are encouraged to raise concerns directly with their manager or through internal reporting channels made available within the business. Where appropriate, concerns may be escalated to senior management for investigation and response.
We also welcome reports from suppliers, customers, and members of the public who become aware of potential modern slavery risks linked to Self Storage Maida Vale. All reports we receive will be taken seriously, reviewed promptly, and handled sensitively, with confidentiality respected as far as is reasonably possible.
We will not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our team members, particularly those involved in supplier selection, procurement, and facilities management. Where relevant, we will provide training or guidance so that staff can recognise warning signs and understand how to respond.
We are continuing to review and develop our procedures so that our approach to modern slavery remains robust. This includes reviewing our contractual terms, procurement processes, and internal policies to ensure they align with best practice and evolving legislation.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and reflective of our current operations and supply chains. The review will consider any incidents reported, changes in our business activities, and developments in law or guidance.
Following each review, we will update this statement where necessary and communicate any significant changes internally and, where relevant, to our suppliers and stakeholders.
This statement has been approved by the management of Self Storage Maida Vale, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation and ongoing effectiveness across the business.
